Why a doctor builds AI businesses at night
I'm a physician. By day, I see patients. By night, I build software.
When I tell people that, I get one of two reactions: either "why would you risk your career?" or "wait — doctors need side hustles?"
The honest answer is both, and neither.
Why I started. Ten years into clinical practice, I realized I had one skill that translates everywhere: I'm very good at systematic thinking. The same discipline that gets you through med school and residency — differential diagnosis, evidence over anecdote, process over vibes — is exactly what building software demands. The tools changed, the method didn't.
So I started building: books, a newsletter, YouTube channels, a resume-optimizing SaaS. Some worked, some didn't. I kept the ones that teach me something.
My three non-negotiable rules. Because I will not risk my license, my patients' trust, or my reputation:
1. No health advice, ever. My content is about business, AI, productivity, and building. If someone asks a medical question, I say "talk to your own physician." That line is not a disclaimer — it's a boundary I actually keep.
2. No patient stories. Not even anonymized ones. My clinical work stays in the clinic. My online work is a different professional persona — related to me, not to my practice.
3. No claims I can't verify. Evidence-based thinking applies to marketing too. I don't promise passive income, overnight success, or "the miracle tool." I show what I actually do, with actual numbers.
What I'm doing now. For the next 90 days, I'm documenting everything in public: my tools, my automation setup, my launches, my failures. Not because the world needs another build-in-public feed — but because the most useful content I've ever consumed came from people who showed their real process, warts and all.
What you'll get here:
- My weekly AI stack — tools that genuinely save solo operators time
- My automation architecture — how one person runs a small media empire on autopilot
- My launch post-mortems — what worked, what flopped, what I'd do differently
- My license-safe framework for professionals who want side income without career risk
If that's useful:
